Tanya Downing
Tanya L. Downing is a senior development professional with 15 years of successful fundraising, non-profit management, and program development experience. She also has experience in relationship development and with addressing diversity and inclusion initiatives. Tanya is Foundation Director for the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF), the philanthropic arm of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). She oversees the fundraising, development and day to day operations of the Foundation. Tanya exceeded EMF goals by raising more than $1 million the past three years. In addition, she’s increased corporate development, raised participation in EMF Staff Campaign and expanded the donor base. Prior to joining EMF/ACEP, Tanya worked for the American Cancer Society and Texas Health Resources (a health care system), as Development Director of Corporate Initiatives.
Tanya is a member of The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), since 1995. She is an active member and has served in the following positions: 2007-2014 Board of Directors, 2010 National Philanthropy Day Chair, 2007-2009 Diversity Chair, 2008 Dallas Chapter “Davis Scholarship” Recipient, 2008 AFP Fundraising “Delegation to the Republic of China” and 2007 International Conference Steering Committee.
Tanya was also a member of the Association of Health Professionals (AHP) from 2007-2012 where she held multiple positions including 2009 Annual Fund Chair, 2008-2010 Board of Trustees, 2007 Educational Conference Co-chair and co-author of articles for AHP e-newsletter.
In February 2016, Tanya served as the Co-chair for the Medical Society of Fundraisers (MSFRN) Winter Conference. These are fundraisers from medical associations.
Tanya enjoys serving at her church, where she is a “Barista” on Sunday mornings, serving up coffee and serving on the medical ministry team helping to coordinate mission trips. According to her Niece and Nephew, she’s the “Best Auntie in the World” who enjoys spending time with her family and has a passion for the arts.
